Book A Speaking Engagement

Throughout Zack's career as a union organizer, he has constantly encountered workers — and the broader general public — who have little to no prior knowledge about unions and labor rights, yet hold many misconceptions. He started speaking to audiences at high schools, community colleges, colleges and universities, conferences, foundations, nonprofits, and community groups to provide the correct information about their rights at work.Examples of Zack's speaking topics include:

  • "The Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How of Unions" — In this foundational talk, Zack breaks down the basics for audiences with little to no prior knowledge: who can start a union, what a union is and does, when and where the right to organize applies, why it matters, and how the process actually works. He replaces common misconceptions with clear, empowering facts so that every participant walks away understanding their rights and the real-world impact of collective action.

  • "So You Think You Know About Labor Rights" — Many of us hold firm ideas about unions and labor rights that don’t hold up to reality. Zack tackles the most widespread myths head-on, from who can start a union to what retaliation looks like, and replaces them with the accurate legal protections and proven strategies workers have today. By the end, your group will know how to separate fact from fiction and take informed steps in their own workplaces.

  • "Unions As A Final Frontier of Democracy" — Democracy shouldn’t stop at the ballot box. It belongs in the places where we spend most of our waking hours. This talk positions unions as a vital extension of democratic values, giving workers a real voice in the decisions that shape their jobs, their safety, and their futures. Drawing on his experience organizing numerous workplaces, Zack connects civic engagement to workplace organizing and makes the case that a truly democratic society requires a strong labor movement.

  • "The Future of Unions: Organizing Outside of the NLRA and NLRB" — The traditional election process isn’t the only route to a voice at work and in many cases, it isn’t even the most effective one. In this forward-looking talk, Zack explores how workers are building power through alternative paths that sidestep a broken system, from voluntary recognition and community pressure to innovative models that don’t rely on the National Labor Relations Act at all. Audiences leave with a clear understanding of where the labor movement is headed and how everyday people can harness these emerging strategies.

  • "The Company Response: How to Overcome Union Busting" — When workers organize, most employers don’t welcome it. They fight it, often with a well-funded and predictable playbook. Zack breaks down the most common union-busting tactics, from captive-audience meetings to misinformation campaigns, and shares the real-world counter-strategies that workers and organizers use to stay unified, protected, and focused on winning. This talk replaces fear and confusion with confidence, giving your group the insight they need to recognize anti-union pressure and push back effectively.

  • Committee Meetings/Office Hours — Zack also develops custom talks on unions and labor rights upon request that are tailored to the needs of your organization.
